5 Awesome Things on eBay this week

Prize Machine from the UK with a Captain Zargon action figure (eBay Link) – Where to begin on this thing? 1) it’s one of those seaside/vacation items of the era, where you throw in money hoping to get something worthwhile but you’re likely getting a sticker. The thing that makes it special is the Action […]

The ring is just so random. It’s like… it’s not the toy but a picture of the toy. From a catalog that someone else took and somehow, some random person can buy cocaine for his family tonight

Man, I love that Tarzan image. Russ Manning got his name on a lot of Tarzan merch!

That Iron Man standee...probably one of the last items produced (1979) with DC and Marvel heroes co-mingling. And it says MARVEL on this package, "with DC Comics Friends"! I wonder if the DC characters said "DC" instead. Love that Bob Layton art. And the images of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman from the header look to come from a Jose Luis Garcia Lopez (Praised Be His Name) poster from the Superman Fan Club that eventually emerged from the ashes of the canceled DC Society Fan Club in the late 70s.

My second college roommate could challenge for the title of Mr. Unironic. He always told me how "metalheads" like him always wore their leather jackets, seemingly unaffected by the cognitive dissonance of always wearing a denim jacket. He would brag about how he'd rather work on his "wheels" than hang out with his 11th-grade girlfriend. Seeing the bumper hanging off his 1983 Chevette, I understood. I don't mean to pick on someone for their physical stature, but it was hard to take his tough guy talk when it came from his 5'5', 125-lb frame.

Oh, and I can't help but think about your roommate walking around in short shorts, a headband and oiled from head to toe! To this day, he still doesn't realize you were mocking him by wearing the same outfit.

I have the Don Ho soakie bubble blower but no tag, I might have made a bid on that one since it still had the tag on it, you don’t see those that often come up on ebay.
