5 Awesome Things on eBay this week

Scooby Doo Police Chief Rack Toy by Harmony (eBay Link) – Harmony is one of my favourite Rack Toy manufacturers, mainly because a) they chose a lot of weird licenses and b) I am always surprised by them. This Scooby Doo toy is news to me, I’ve never seen it and it’s pretty awesome. These […]

I have a set of those DC Comics planters. I was a sucker for that Super Friends era.

I remember going into a drugstore and seeking stacks of the Father Murphy costume. I was probably age 9 or 10, and I couldn't imagine what child got stuck with that from a late-to-the-store parent. Yet now, I'm tempted...

I could make fun of Merlin Olsen...but now I look like him, so...

I have a beater box of the Super Planters...but my Superman pot bit the dust over the years. Batman, Wonder Woman and Shazam are without hope.

Yeah, I think Herb Trimpe deserves a paycheck from that Lazer Fazer box.

WHY was there so little Scobby-Doo merchandise in the 70s? My kids had a TON of Scoob merch, and it was glorious. I would have even settled for this!

Rewatching a previously recorded copy of the 1986 Super Bowl and Merlin is one of the commentators.

I feel like there was a time in the 2000's when that Super Planter was constantly on eBay.

              AND
"CC was in the “Big Jim Slade” segment of “Kentucky Fried Movie” and then ….other stuff." - the one time that child actor rumor was actually true.
              WANTED - Solid-Boxed WGSH's, C.8 or better.

my brain subconsciously snuck in Guido Sarducci instead of Murphy and I did a double take. Now I am a bit disappointed Ben Cooper didn't make that one.

I am glad I never discovered that for my own, just took someone else's word for it. Really don't need to see the guy from Wonderbug "on the job",

"our hero on the box looks like he’s about to fight the Cavity Creeps."

Indeed! The judges would also have accepted "Atari Force"...

LOVE Merlin Olsen, when he first appeared as Jonathan Garvey on Little House on the Prairie. Then he got his own show with Moses Gunn on Father Murphy and YES, I actually OWN that costume, got it at the Chicago Toy show a few years ago!!! And Aaron's way was his last tv show, sadly he died way too young.

I've always liked Merlin Olsen too, and he was great as Jonathan Garvey on Little House. In fact, prior to Father Murphy, Michael Landon tried to spin off the Garvey character (there's an episode with him starting out as sheriff in a new town that's an attempt at a backdoor pilot), and when that didn't sell, Landon produced Father Murphy with Olsen and Gunn both leaving Little House to take roles. As a show, it never quite had the ratings of the first series, but it's hard not to appreciate the earnestness he brought to the role.

                          Very good question.

The only thing I had as a kid I think was a red plastic cup with Scooby on it.
