Terrific pictures. A bit of obscure trivia: the doll that girl is holding is Galoob's Baby Talk. One of the earlier interactive dolls.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I remember those Aurora monster kits very well, I only had Kong and Godzilla and of course after Dad put them together with that liquid glue which he didn’t want me to inhale, I of course had to reenact battle scenes from the 1963 movie which at the time was one of my favorites.

Nostalgia is a funny thing. All of these photos speak to me, makes me happy and sad at the same time.

I grew up in a small town, but we had Sears, Montgomery Wards, Woolworths, 3D Discount and a couple of small mom and pops stores locally. Woolworths and 3D has the most memories for of seeing all of these amazing toys.

Dang I love that end cape of all of those Shogun Warriors! I wanted those so bad, but they were pricey and my allowance never aligned.

Seeing this does sadden me knowing these types of pictures are pretty much gone and won't return. I'm glad my kids were able to experience TRU, FAO and some of those types of stores during their youth, so maybe they'll have some good memories like their old dad.

TRU is a shell of its former self here on the west coast. They have a deal to with Macy's and have a toy dept. within the store. It is sad to see with only a sparse selection of toys.

Being a big collector of Adventure Team GI Joe, I wish I had been old enough in the 70s to remember stores having displays of the stuff...But I do love these old toy store photos.
