Pod Stallions 99: More Planet of the Apes

Pod Stallions 99: More Planet of the Apes Never say we don’t finish things, here is the second part to an episode we started in 2015 (we were just kids them) where J and B discuss the many Planet of the Apes sequels, the tv series, the cartoon, the Tim Burton movie and the Matt […]

Gosh that was such a fun listen...Thank you!

My intro to Planet Of The Apes was in '73 when they ran the first three movies on, if I remember correctly, consecutive Friday nights. I watched them with my Dad, he was in his recliner and I was laying on the floor in front of the TV with my Siamese cat. I had no idea what was coming and I was completely blown away and totally hooked after the first movie. My favorite the first time around ended up being Escape, even though I was heart-broken by the ending. By the end of those three weeks, I was hooked for what has been nearly a life-long appreciation for the franchise.

The first merchandise I remember getting was the Cornelius & Zaius models, and I'm guessing it would have been Christmas that year. I do remember getting the Aldo model in my Easter basket a bit after I already had the other two so it seems like it would be the case.

I've shared this picture before in another thread, this is my birthday in '74:

I'm guessing the Mego figures weren't out quite yet, because I got them for Christmas along with the tree house.

Yup and Superman's right behind him! The recorder, flash light, rifle/mask set and the medallion shirt were from my parents, the rest were gifts from friends & extended family. That's how bananas I was over them damn dirty Apes, nobody had to guess what I'd like.

This is the podcast for me. You guys mentioned the Lance LeGaunt episode of Logan's Run I watched right before listening. Nicholas Hamm was in that same episode. Logan's run had a couple good episodes , "Crypt" being my favorite soo far. The theme song is not good so that's working against it.

I didn't even know Mattel made POTA guns but sure enough Dark Shadow had one in his pic, incredible.

It came with the mask that I'm wearing. If I remember correctly, it was available in at least two different versions, maybe more?
