    1977 Marx Ready Gang Catalog

In 1977, Marx Toys launched the Ready Gang, a beautifully detailed line of 9″ action figures from the old west with little to no back story (Seriously, are these guys, outlaws, or good guys? I guess it’s up to the kid?) and it lasted two years before fading away. My best guess is the line’s […]

This was completely news to me. I've been working on my Lone Ranger stuff this past year, so this looks fun. Thanks for posting!

I like the horses, too. I should at least get a Sundown Kid and steed.

I wanted this stuff so bad, but my parents would never buy me any of it.

My best friend and his older brother had the whole line, the western town was a great playset, I had a Legends of the West Wild Bill figure that fit right in. We spent a good bit of time playing with it all.

I now think I once saw the playset somewhere at an antique mall. I had no idea what it was. I think the tag even said "Ready Gang", but I had never heard of the line, so I had no idea what that meant. Even then, knowing nothing of the line, I was tempted for display with my Lone Ranger figures. But they wanted quite a bit for it as I recall, plus I didn't have the space for it.

I love the design of the playset but it looks pretty flimsy--cardboard? Sainthood, do you recall its construction?

I have the (European?) Lone Ranger playset for my Western Megos-- it's large, heavy, and made of Masonite. (Thanks rchatlin .)

I had the playset as a kid and sold it to someone on the forum. The base of the playset was the bottom of the box. The cardboard walls had interlocking tabs. There were some plastic parts that helped reinforce it some. There was a plastic stairway that helped hold up the catwalk/2nd floor that had a break away railing for bar fights. Probably rare because they didn’t make many and they were cardboard.
