    A MEGO Christmas in 1977 and 1979

Another rare photo from Christmas that shows a toy from Santa...The Fonzie figure I got in 1977.

The Fonz is still around and giving the thumbs up to hanging out with my MEGO Trek crew and the MEGO Buck Rogers figures I got in 1979. The infamous Christmas that my brother ruined Santa Claus for me. Six of those are from the Sears catalog. They have been fixed up (fixed some thumbs, fixed tips on guns, touch up paint, and new arm bands). The other 3 were bought on eBay to complete the set.

I think the package in my other hand was a MEGO Spider-Man. And I'm wearing Superman pajamas.

Did Spider-man end up fighting the Fonz that day? Or did they just like, hang out together?

I was really into Happy Days and the Fonz. But I don't remember playing with him that much. Making his arms go up and down and saying AAAAAAAY. That was about it. Which is probably why he is still around and all our superhero figures were beat and ended up getting tossed out.

Thanks. I started scanning old photos for a school project my daughter was doing. I love when people post vintage photos. It’s too bad the photos have degraded so much. You can’t appreciate the gold carpet and green furniture we had. I’m fortunate that I kept my toys organized and got them out before my mom tossed or sold them. She did sell my full custom bmx bike for $5.

i had some professionally redone from slides and negatives and they do cleanup a lot better that way. it is expensive though. after my mom had passed the only thing i wanted out of her house was the photos of our childhood so i took it upon myself to get them all digitally redone, cost around $1000 but well worth it to me. the old color photo prints degrade pretty badly as you mentioned

That is a great idea. Did you use someone local or a mail-in service?

I have a nice flatbed scanner and borrowed a slide scanner. I had very good luck with the slides. They needed some color adjustment and scratch repair in photoshop. The worst photos are the ones from the mid-1970's. The paper is textured and my mom had them in those sticky (aka acidic) photo albums. Not to mention that many of them are blurry and bad pictures to begin with. But I will look into what can be done with those.
