    Toy-Ventures: Christmas Wish List 1979

Welcome to the Toy-Ventures Christmas special! In this episode, I dig up my Christmas Wish List from 1979 and tell you which toys I got and the ones that got away. Mego Superheroes, Micronauts, Kenner Star Wars and apparently, I had a thing for cats? We’ve got a new book coming! Knock-Offs Totally Unauthorized […]

In 1979, I was twelve--fifth grade-- and still very much into toys, particularly Star Wars and Micronauts (especially the aliens)

But my memory is fuzzy--I know I had a Hornetroid but don't recall the year. I annually received the JCPenney bagged sets of Star Wars new releases.

I'm impressed that you still have your list. I mentioned in another thread how I'd like to make a list of when and from whom I received my childhood Megos.

Great episode, for me, Christmas was pretty much Star Wars from 78-81. There was an Atari in 1980 along with the new ESB snow speeder.

In '79 I was thirteen and not really into toys anymore. I think a record player was on my Christmas list.

Pretty sure this was my big Star Wars year.
I got the cantina, land of the jawas, and the droid factory. And yeah, land of the jawas turned out pretty lame.
Droid factory was a blast though.

The two gifts I remember from 1979 were a set of 6 Buck Rogers figures and the big gift, the Millennium Falcon. I remember the size of that Falcon box on Christmas morning. What a great toy and playset. I still have it. I'm only missing the training ball which really just looks like a craft bead. 1979 was an excellent year!

Christmas 1979 was the year I got the Gabriel Tonto (having gotten Lone Ranger and Silver the year before) and I know Bugs Bunny both as a stuffed animal and a playset. I'm sure I got Empire's Legends of the West then too.

Wanted: Legends of the West (Empire & Excel) and other western historically-based figures. Send me an offer.
Also interested in figures based on literary characters.

The Lone Ranger figures are one of the few where I don't remember when I got them. It pretty much had to be a birthday or Christmas. I'm pretty sure they came before I started buying Star Wars figures though.

My big 1979 present. Still the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy. And it goes well with my imperial wall behind it.
