Everything's Archie!

I never saw these Marx Archie figures as a kid or else I'd have been all over them, I've always been a big fan. These are prototypes of the actual figures as some of the head sculpts are off and they definitely didn't have articulated bodies like that, the actuall product has that lame Sunshine Family style going on.
Is it me or does that Archie figure look ****ed? It looks like he's ready kick somebody's *** off camera....

I remember seeing these at a local 5 & 10 store as a kid. They had the figures and the car which came in a box with cartoon illustrations. I was never a big fan of Archie - never read the comics and didn't care much for the TV series, so I never gave these a second look.

I've always loved the Archies. I have a TON of the classic comics. I wonder if this coincided w/ the premiere of the live-action Archie series that flopped in the late 70s? And where the heck is Reggie?

Archie's hands look like Gabriel Lone Ranger hands to me. And he does look ticked. Reggie is finally going to get it!

I do remember seeing these in the store as a kid. Don't recall if I ever wanted them or not. I think I did as I was way into Archie comics and the cartoons at the time. Maybe they were too expensive or I got other stuff instead? I was more into Megos anyway.

Have never seen any in antique shops or flea markets.

Huge Archie fan! Read about 20 years worth of the comics. Awesome Archie Pics. Hated the Marx/Sunshine Family bodies. Anybody know if you can put the Archie head on the Lone Ranger body? Or tried it? I like the look of the protoype.

The car looks too small, would it look better with 6in scale people?

I would have loved those as a kid. The picture from the catalog look familiar, but I can't swear they were ever on my "Toy Radar".
