Another 13 Classic Toys due for a re-release

Once again Dan Greenfield of 13th Dimension asked me to come up with 13 toys I'd like to see re-released. I tried to think outside of my particular box. I hope you enjoy, and I'd love to hear what you would like to see reissued! (Special thanks to Brian and Plaid Stallions for most of the wonderful pictures).

An inspired list. I was glad to see you feature some "deep cuts" like the Beetlejuice figures (I never owned them, but I think they are a fun, underappreciated line) and the Centurions (which I had and really liked but were definitely a line in need of cool villains to fight). On the flip side, Big Jim and Lone Ranger were so iconic... it is frankly shocking that they have not been re-released. I look forward to the 2021 list!

Big Jim's PACK with Kirby inspired sculpts I would be all over in a minute. As a kid I spotted the style and really wanted figures that looked like the art. THe JLA playset should really be done, it costs a fortune to get one nowadays.

I'm surprised, too, that Big Jim hasn't seen even a commemorative re-release. But it would also likely be an expensive figure, even if the tooling still exists (which I doubt).

I think it's a wonderful list; I might add Kenner's Six Million Dollar Man.

As much as a like the Indiana Jones movies I have to admit the toys really don't sell all that well.

An update of LJN's Dungeons & Dragons line is long over due. I'd love new figures of Warduke, Strongheart, Mercion, etc.

Agreed. It's a great looking line that could definitely be relaunched and even expanded.

This is a great list. I definitely think the Gabriel Lone Ranger line is worthy of high praise and a relaunch as well.

Wanted: Legends of the West (Empire & Excel) and other western historically-based figures. Send me an offer.
Also interested in figures based on literary characters.

I'd be all over that Justice League set for sure.

Actually some really good choices in that list including Lone Ranger and Marvel Marx. Heck, I might even be tempted by Captain Planet.

I'm surprised they never brought back Glamour Gals. Those were cool.

^I don't remember seeing those at all as a kid, for some strange reason. Okay, not that strange, because I was a boy with a sister seven years older than me, so by the time the 80s rolled around, there were no girls-centric toys coming into the house. But still, in the 90s when I read in Tomart's that Kenner used those dolls to mock-up figures like Supergirl for their Super Powers pitch, I was floored! It is kind of odd they haven't returned. Everyone seems to always be looking for a new angle with the fashion dolls, and that's small scale has rarely been explored beyond Glamour Gals.

Definitely AD&D is long, long overdue to be revived.
                        Hey Hasbro, what's up?

I think Big Jim has been one of the most overlooked license revivals out there. I really think the PACK would find an audience in today's market. I understand why they would not go back further because the camping/sports segment were more for my generation that were conditioned to want accessory lines for adventures. Todays generation see's that too much as a doll experience and don't relate. But I think the PACK would override all of that. I miss Big Jim on the shelves. He deserves another shot.

It was such a fun concept I am a bit shocked it's never really been revisited. Mini fashion dolls were super popular in the early 80s. The two main ones were Kenner's Glamour Gals and Mattel's Dazzle and there were also a slew of imitators.

Speaking of Glamour Gals, McDonald's has released a set of mini-Barbies with their Happy Meals almost every year since the '90s. They sort of remind me of the Glamour Gals because of their size and rooted hair and different outfits. They have limited movement, though. Their head and arms move, but not the legs so they can't sit down. The picture below is from their 2019 line.
