Great quality video from 1974! I didn't recognize any of the toys, though.

Sears giving away $250,000 to it's employees for the holidays is perhaps the bigger story. You don't see anything like that these days.

I want to crawl through my computer screen, into that video, and be 10 years old again.

            That's really neat.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Yeah, that was a rough year for Santa. He basically phoned it in.

Does anyone remember the name of that toy they focused in on with the two bears that bop each other sticks? It was like a variation on Rock 'Em Sock "em Robots where you try and knock down your opponents Bear.

I love how physically large all the toys are. That one kid could hardly hold on to his Vertibird and GI Joe Boiling Lagoon set.

I remember my local Sears, as a kid. It was two-stories in a downtown location. From the front street, you entered the first floor. From the back parking lot, you entered the basement floor. The toy department was on the basement floor. The candy department was on the stairway, in-between the two floors on the way to the toy department. I'd buy some candy or popcorn, and head straight to the toy department. During Christmas, it was fairly large--about 5 aisles. During off-season, it was much smaller. Good memories.

You just got me reminiscing. My local Sears was just a small, one-level building. They had a small toy section during the year, but during Christmas time, they would open the doors to the adjoining warehouse where they created a huge makeshift toy section inside. Loved browsing in there!

Maybe I subconsciously knew the name -

Near the end that one boy had a motorcycle model kit sitting on top of a Steve Scout playset. That was pretty popular in '74.

Nice. Seeing the rock tumbler in the toys section reminded me of all the craft things popular in the 70s- string art, latch hook pictures, candle makers and what was that amazingly-not-safe-for-kids thing that let you pour and cook up jigglers?
