GI Joe Adventure Team Explores the World

These GI Joe Wishbook spreads are some of my earliest memories, my mother even tells me that an overnight hospital stay once was made much traumatic by handing me a Christmas wishbook that was in her car.

No wonder that I smile every time I see one of these double-page spreads...

When toys didn't require movie or comic book tie-ins. Just imagination.

My mother used to make me rank the GI Joe stuff what I wanted in the Century Catalog Store Christmas book. It was torture, and I clearly remember re-ranking and crossing out things a dozen times a year.

I've got most of those except from Desert Patrol Adventure and Shark's Surprise.

The stuff my 11 year old self's dreams were made of.

I wasn't interested in Joe when I was a kid, but I adore the line now. I particularly like that top JCPenney's page, it "has it all."

Some of my favorite toys, I started getting mine in 74 when the KFG was introduced. I played with them well after star wars had taken over the shelves.
