Over the years I've had a lot of people tell the Aurora Ready Ranger Mobile Field Pack lived up to the hype and was a really fun toy.

I had it! Saw it in a Sears catalog or something and asked for it for Christmas one year. I loved it, well, more the idea of it. I didn't play much with it after I got it because it was more a non-working copy real camping/research set, though made with plastic, fake dials, etc- so nothing was real aside from the flashlight. In the end it felt sort of like a dud. However that didn't stop me from finding a boxed example on eBay many years later and getting it for my collection.

This was my major let down as a collector.

The comic ads were seared into my brain, and I finally bought one off eBay, despite the heavy shipping fee.

It looked cool, but was just a hunk of plastic junk, much as Sean says.

It felt cathartic when I finally found a buyer to take it off my hands.

Man did I want this as a kid, never even saw one other than the catalog page.

I got one as a kid and still have it somewhere. I used it as a backpack a couple times, then used it a lot as a spaceship for my Mego Trek Aliens.
