Wonder Woman and the Star Riders unreleased cartoon/live action pilot.

I've long heard the Wonder Woman and the Star Riders pilot didn't get further than concept designs and scripts. I came across these screen caps today from the pilot. So was it or wasn't it?

The toy line was going to be made by Mattel and the toys were repurposed from Mattel's Tenko and Princess of Power toy lines.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

^I've heard conflicting stories of how far into production they got with the pilot. I think the only product that made it out was the tie-in mini comic that was available in some Kellogg's cereals. Cindy has that comic in her WW collection.

DC COMICS IN THE MEDIA WONDER WOMAN IN THE MEDIA STAR RIDERS IN THE MEDIA In 1992, Mattel planned a line of toys for girls with Wonder Woman leading a new cast of four female characters. Two had been previously established: Dolphin in 1968 and Ice in 1988. The other two were new characters invented for the series. Solara had sun-based fire powers while Starlily had earth-based plant powers. "Wonder Woman and the Star Riders" had the subtitle "Sparkling super heroines!" They were to be pitted aga

I had that comic too. Sadly I lost it years ago. I remember I was really excited when the toy line was announced do to it's links to She-Ra. Still kinda irritates me it was cancelled. It was a concept a bit before it's time.

^I remember seeing color photos of the toys in Tomarts. Cindy was very excited for them. It seems odd that Wonder Woman has had so many film, TV and toy iterations that were cancelled for one reason or another.

When DC Super Hero Girls became a thing, it felt like this concept FINALLY happened in a lot of ways.

Same here. I was going to collect the heck out of those reused She-Ra horses.

Yeah I have been covering the Wonder Woman & the Star Riders for years so thanks for the tag Chris...

I have the actual VHS footage of the clips of the Live Action toy Fair ad and the few seconds of the animation but they are packed away.

Yes, Wonder Woman has often seemed just a step off the "right" time. Who's Afraid of Diana Prince? was to cash in on Batmania, but that was waning when the test film was made (and the test film wasn't that good. There was talk in the late 1990s about a show (with Alexandra Paul rumored to be WW) that was to cash in on the Hercules/Xena popularity, but it was as that syndication bubble burst too. There was that pilot around 2010 that somehow fell just ahead of all the superhero shows (plus it went for an "Ally McBeal vibe"), and even the proposed Amazon that should have worked like Smallville was dropped as the CW went for the Arrowverse approach. With Star Riders, I always thought had this been in the 1980s when She-Ra was a hit, this would have been a slam dunk.

I remember the Tomarts report and was excited by the idea.

Nope, the presentaion footage was all they released when at Toy Fair there were not takers in the lineup. With She-Ra & Golden Girl out there there was no room for the Star Riders.
