I think Tomy's TRON figures are the greatest movie toys of the 80's. Why?
Most action figures try to capture the on-screen appearance of the characters they represent, and while they are certainly more accurate in that respect,
they remain miniature plastic representations of the characters…nothing more.
This is what makes Tomy’s TRON figures so special IMO. They instead capture the FEEL of not only the characters, but the entire film itself. No other toy line does this.
The actual sculpts are faithful to the film’s designs, but it’s that transparent candy colored plastic which somehow conveys the very essence of TRON.
It’s like they somehow managed to capture light itself in toy form.
