    A 1970s McDonalds Costume Catalog

My friend Justin sent this to me yesterday and I can say without hyperbole that it's the greatest thing I'll ever see. If you've ever wondered how much "the Hamburglar" cost or if there was a checklist for Ronald McDonald's magic tricks, your quest is at an end today.

$975 for the Hanburglar, do you take Paypal?

When our local McDonald's opened our Ronald had a thick Ukrainian accent, leading many of us to believe that Ronald was supposed to sound like that.

Bless you Justin for this amazing look behind the curtain.

Don't forget to join our new facebook group.

Wow, what a find! The character descriptions and instructions on how to portray them are especially fascinating! Thanks Justin and Brian!

      Real neat !!!

BTW, I always thought some versions of the Hamburglar resembled Alfred E Neuman

That is wild. I had no idea something like this even existed.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

They essentially don’t, these sheets (and a few others I missed out on) came out of an estate sale for a long time Syracuse NY area Ronald who took his craft super serious. He seems to have kept everything (at least paperwork-wise) and it was all overlooked at the sale until the guy I got these from scooped it all up.

Now THIS is the cosplay I'd like to see more of. Awesome characters who are sadly being lost to time.

Wow, $3000 for the full Grimace. Wonder what that is adjusted for inflation?

Does it give the price for the full Big Mac or Mayor McCheese costumes? Those seem the most elaborate.

I like hot they never use the word "steal" in describing the Hamburglar. And, given the ethos of a children's character, he is mischievous but "always gets rehabilitated."

Hard to tell without a date. Birdie is on the list and she was intro'ed in 1980. Randomly taking 1985 as a year (though this seems more recent than that), 3K in '85 equals about 7.2K today.

I think those were really well done. Some of Remco's best work.

This thread inspired me to read more about McDonaldland characters

I never knew they were voiced by such big names as …

Hamburglar --- Larry Storch and Howard Morris

Grimace --- Lenny Weinrib (Puffnstuff) and Frank Welker

                          Mayor McCheese --- Howard Morris

                          Captain Crook --- Larry Storch

The Professor --- Lou Wagner (Planet of the Apes/Lost in Space/CHiPs)

Officer Big Mac --- Ted Cassidy

This is fun. Thanks for sharing it. Any personal appearance guidelines for the Ronald McDonald character? I got to hang out with a guy playing Ronald McDonald (during and after a Christmas parade) when I was a teenager. He was cool and largely stayed in character, even with my annoying teenaged antics (e.g., teasing, trying to get him out of character, etc.). His costume and makeup were immaculate.
