    Horrible family dishes.

I think most families have some sort of a traditional comfort food. Sadly, they are not always all that great and we probably all have our horror stories.

I haven't thought of this stuff in years.

Since I was little my mother has told me horror stories of my great grandmother fixing Lutefisk for Christmas. For those not in the know it's a traditional Nordic dish for the holidays. It's basically aged fish soaked in lye until it turns jelly like. Yummy! From what I hear the smell is unreal. It would make your clothes stink. I've never tried it. I have tried Lefse, which kind of like a bland crepe made out of potato, It's not horrible and I've also tried Krumkake, which is kind of like a waffle cookie, it's not bad.

Lastly my Grandfather loved limburger cheese sandwiches. My mother said she refused to try it. The smell alone made her queasy.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Thanks for sharing and this reminds me of the King of the Hill's "Revenge of the Lutefisk" episode where Bobby eats the dish that everybody avoids. My grandmother and uncle loved liver and onions. I had it once and swore never again.

Jungle Stew. AKA cream of leftovers.
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

And it always had green beans in it, didn't it?

My ma used to make refrigerator cold gelatinized pig's feet with garlic.

The whole family was crazy about it except me and one of my sis's.

We had to leave the room when it was being served.

The sight and smell would literally make us throw up.

I feel lucky. Jello with fruit inside always gagged me.
