    Super Sale

This ad for Towers (A Canadian chain of department stores) from December 15, 1980 has some pretty swell deals going for it. Highlights include Mego 12" Superheroes for $4.95 each, Remco Utility Belts for $3.22 and the Hoth Ice Planet set for $10.50. This didn't help me much as a kid, we lived far away from a Towers location, however it was the first place I played Space Invaders.

But wait! There's more including some smoking specials on Mego Micronauts which sadly were being discontinued that year. A Hydrocopter for $6? My grandmother paid full price!

Ah yes, Towers. We did have one near us (now it's a Zellers). I don't specifically remember buying any Megos there (I'm sure I did though) but my mom shopped there a lot, so I cruised their toy section quite a bit. I do remember buying a Dr Steel and some Star Wars figures there.

It's funny looking at the store hours. That was back when stores had to be closed on Sundays and on Boxing Day by law in Ontario. Those days sure are gone.

When I got my first sales territory, I got a Zellers in a really rough neighbourhood where they still had the "Towers" sign on the roof. This was like 1995, so the management just obviously didn't care.
