Evel Knievel : The Comic Book

A bravura addition to the site today, it's the Ideal Toys Evel Knievel giveaway comic in it's entirety. Even if it didn't have the Marvel Comic Logo on it, the art style would give it away. Like many promotional comics, it manages to crowbar in every Evel Knievel toy while telling some sort of story.

"The Perilous Traps of Mr Danger" is rated a hard R for language and strong sexual content, actually it's as tame and family friendly as you'd expect it to be.

I had Evel Knievel the toy before I knew he was a real person.

Wow, would I love to have that comic. Sometimes, my kids and I make up a story about the Skull Canyon. Evel must save Derry Daring from the monster and rescue her. But can Evel knock the monster off the canyon wall?

        Do I detect Jim Mooney?

I never knew this comic existed. Of course Ideal and Marvel teamed later for the Team America comics both in the toys and on the stands, and it canibalized the Evel line, so...

I dunno do ya? The artist is uncredited.

Ideal did a comic for S.T.A.R Team as well that I'd like to get my hands on, so it should come as no surprise that they made an Evel book.

They come up on eBay all the time. I got a mint one for $12 + shipping several years ago.
