    Azrak Hamway Toy Explosion

Not one but two new sections added to PlaidStallions.com today, both devoted to that king of Rack Toys, Azrak Hamway International or as they're often known AHI. First we have the 1976 AHI catalog, featuring an unbelievable amount of licensed toys from Star Trek Waterpistols to Parachuting Shazam, even Dr. Zaius on a chopper, AHI had all bases covered. Lots of rare items and a few that I'm not sure ever made it to market.
check out all the goodies here

But wait, there's more! Also up today is a new gallery devoted to the Official World Famous Super Monster figures produced by AHI. These cool little Mego-Esque figures were officially licensed by Universal Studios and went through a staggering amount of variations over the years. Always welcoming submissions for things not featured, so if you have something snap a pic!

Check out the AHI Supermonsters Page Here.

Frank and Drac go out dancing on Friday nights, good for them.

This AHI stuff is great. I love those Monster water guns. Never knew they made a Shazam parachutist.

I honestly don't know if that ever came out.

I remember when the (now sadly defunct) Merlin's Magic Shop in Walt Disney World sold these figures. They had a cool display in one of the cases with Frankenstein throwing one of the fake foam rocks they also sold at the wolfman! I am sure Disney jacked the price up so my parents would not buy them for me there but K-Mart came through later on!

Whoa! So much good stuff to drool over!

I must have had 10 of each of those AHI Batmobiles. I still have one of my old friction powered ones. The green bubble windshield is so distinctive.

That Shazam parachutist is wild! He even has his hands on his hips, unlike the other heroes, as if to say "Who cares if I crash into the Earth? I'll survive." I wonder if it made it out?

Oh and on the last page, that photo of the pull back cars of the Batmobile, Flintmobile and Spider-Car looks to be flipped. Both Robin and Barney Rubble are driving!

The AHI monsters are just so cheesily creepy cool. It's like a Halloween time-warp. Great stuff!

Brian, great job on the gallery.

I love the AHI Apes and the Monsters.
The Creature and Frankenstein are great; I hope to some day own them.

I loves me some rack toys! Because they were so cheap, I used to get a lot of these from relatives for Christmas and birthdays. They figured they could get away with buying me anything with a superhero on it and I'd be happy. They were right!

BTW, I love the POTA Prison Wagon. Does anyone know if that one make it to market?

I've got one of those here Bill. I've built up a nice little collection of AHI toys over the last year. Great post Brian, it gives me an idea what to search for. Those rack toys have so much charm.

That Batcopter looks like I took some ideas from Mego's

These toys are so familiar ooking. I'll bet I saw more of them in stores than real Megos.

You know, I think you're right. I distinctly remember so many of these, even those I never owned. The toys, the packaging... it all immediately comes back to me.

Ah, I love it when you tell me I'm right.

I definitely get a strong hit on the Batman packaging, the bikes, the parachutes and I know I saw the monsters. I don't remember Mego's monsters.

Talk about an amazing flaskback! I used to see so many of those AHI toys when I was really young. I had quite a few of them and always really enjoyed them. A lot of play value. Also, I love the artwork on the packaging.

This is a very underrated brand, in my opinion.
