We gave it away. It's really small, my grandfather wasn't a big guy. I had it for ten years in my house and it gave me back problems.

Man, I think I would have just moved in! You're brave, Brian. I don't know if I could have let all that 70s goodness go. Maybe you could have a replica room built sometime. Since you have the pics, , maybe that would be possible someday. Good-bye Gramma's basement. You will always have a place in Brian's heart, (and MM members dreams!)."Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."Comment

that's awesome, but the real treasure is the amazing memories you have of having played down there. My siblings, cousin and I still talk about all the awesome playtime we had in my grandparents basement and that house was sold decades ago. it's fondness for a simpler time in all our livesComment

Thanks for sharing man, that's a great vintage room! I'd love to have the chance to see my grandparents' house as it was back then (right now it's a bed and breakfast that would likely be completely unrecognizable to me on the inside at this point). Those intercoms are awesome, my sister and I would have had lots of fun with something like that!Comment

This post made me more melancholy than it should have. My grandparents had one of the few if only basements in Miami Fl. (Started out as a very simple bomb shelter during the Cuban missile crisis) I would give anything to just spend 10 minutes back there, I can still smell it in my mind.Comment

Everyone today is all about how ugly and dated they say 60s and 70s decor is...but I think a lot of the things that were popular then are still cool...sunken living rooms, shaggy carpet, wood paneling...Comment

Glad I have a partner with the same taste. Those items you mentioned are requirements for us when we go house hunting or plan to book an extended stay. Even when we go antique shopping. MCM 60's mod style with a hint of 70's grooviness.Comment
