I thought I'd share some pics of my vintage Halloween collection.
Every year I try to pick up one or two nice high end pieces...everything is original.

We used to have that jack o'lantern scarecrow light up decoration when I was a kid. I believe my folks got rid of it in one of our many moves, but I remember distinctly having that to set up a few for a few years at Halloween time.

Cool! Are those cutouts Beistles?

The green skull is unmarked...the last three are American Merri-Lee, the 39 cent skull & cat is Eureka, and the dancing cat and witch are unmarked except for U.S.A. and Japan

The light up pumpkin is Empire 1969, Mr. Blinky is dated 1959, and the owl is Union Products 1967

Great collection! Between my home, my friend's houses, teacher's bulletin boards, etc... I remember seeing most of these growing up. These are classics.

I'm not a huge Halloween guy, but those pieces are all beautiful...and quite nostalgic, for me. Real works of art.

I love this stuff! I've been getting more and more interested in vintage Halloween over the last several years. I unearthed my old childhood Halloween decorations in my Dad's storage building and brought them home. Nothing too spectacular, just the standard 70s/80s Beistle cutouts and an Empire blow-mold light-up Ghost with skull, mostly.

Here's the ghost, who unfortunately got a candle or something melted on him over the years:



I know SOME Wal-Mart stores were carrying re-issues of the orange and black Jack-O-Lantern blow mold a few years back, but I never found one. I love finding these in the wild, and although I've had lots of luck with Christmas blow molds, the Halloween ones seem far more scares in the field.

I did find this one a few years ago, for a great price I might add!

^Cool Chris!

I discovered a trick to bring those faded table top blowmolds back to life...replace the standard lightbulb inside with an orange bulb. The dimmer, colored light makes a HUGE difference when lit indoors.

^Good idea! I have done that in some Christmas blow-molds, just because red bulbs are easier to come by at Christmas-time. I'll be on the lookout for an orange bulb.

^ I have to laugh at some pieces of yours that I have too, Chris. That dracula cookie cutter in particular. I have many fond (?) memories of the cookie dough getting stuck in the cutter, trying to make Dracula cookies with my mom. I'm sure she still has it.

^Nice! My Mom managed a Hallmark store for about 10 years, so pretty much spanning the 80s, and I still have tons of Hallmark holiday stuff. Lots of great memories attached to them.

You've got some great stuff there.

I've been thinking about going to a more vintage Halloween display the last couple years.
I don't have the cash to do the big, realistic stuff that some of the people are doing now. And I don't have the time/energy to build my own props anymore either.
So, to stand out a bit from the rest, I've been considering the switch.
After seeing some of your stuff, I'm even more inclined to go that rout.
