Speaking of Bikes -- Do they still make BOYS and GIRLS Bikes ?
I believe the bar height is a carry over of the styles that were around when girls ALL wore dresses all the time. The low bar made it easier to ride.
Today has an additional distinction between girl and boy bikes - ALL of the girl bikes (preteen models) have white tires. A friend told me this. I didn't believe her. but since she said it I haven't seen one pink bike with black tires.

i did however see a girl on a racer the other day and it had a slight dip in the frame i thought why on earth bother, she was wearing jeans and probably always does lol, but the bike did have a slight female appeal about it
yeah the girls old skool bikes were more lady like, a girl could get on the saddle without having to swing her leg up with a skirt on and flashing off the smalls.
i was in a store last week and they had bikes for sale, i hate them by the way, they look mlike something out of a transformer movie with all this susspension and springs and stuff, they look ugly to me. they had a mans and a womans, both bikes exatly the same in shape and size, one was electric blue and one purple glitter lol... but yeah the frame seems to be more the same for both sex now
That Montgomery Wards special I owned, had an adjustable bar to raise up for boys, or put down for girls. It didn't have any cool features like a cissy bar or a banana seat, or streamers, bells or horns. But my dad tried to make it special by getting me a license plate w/ my name on it, and rubber stick-on letters down the crossbar, also spelling my name.
