    Stupid Toy flashback question

I never owned this toy, but I have flashbacks of their millions of TV commercials from the 70's ...
    The name escapes me ........

It was a big rubber beachball thing with a handle on top.

You sit on this thing and bounce around like a nut.

They were made in different sizes including for adults.

I remember one of the TV commercials was the whole family bouncing down the sidewalk like idiots

What was the name of that thing ?

    Yeah. I remember that, too.

Didn't it come with different "heads" as the handles, like Geoffrey from Toys R Us?

It's called a Hoppity Hop. There was also a Hoppity Horse. I had a red Hoppity Hop. Unfortunately, it had a small pinhole that no one could find and constantly had to be taken to the gas station to be refilled.

They still make those, although they have a handle molded into the top, and characters printed on the front. My son has a Spider-Man model. He's got a lot of hops out of that!

I had the Hoppity Horse version -- I loved that thing. I hopped around on that thing for hours.

I remember them with the Disney characters also. Mickey, Donald, and Pluto.

They seemed soft enough that you could hit someone harmlessly with one, but if you got a good swing on it you could knock a medium-sized child across the room.

                      Hoppity Horse ???

This must of been England's version...The Space Hopper.

I had a few of these...Great for Family races.

My older brother did that to me once w/ mine when I was little. I don't know if it was intentional. But he bribed me w/ candy not to tell my dad, so he didn't get in trouble.

You should've taken the candy and told...

You might've got more candy, Just to make you fell better.

My daughter and her friends have a race course through our house for these things. Almost as fun as watching Nascar when they come 2 wide around the corner on those things.

Think B.A. Where did you hide the Megos?
