New Rack Toys From Azrak Hamway

Some nice new additions to our Gallery of Rack Toys today, the concentration being on Azarak Hamway or AHI (which I find surprising how many folks call it "Ahheee"). Above is an amazing dual branded package for Star Trek/Space:1999 Jet Disks. You wouldn't see stuff like this today. This is courtesy of Will Frost.

Also by AHI is this too cool Creature from the Black Lagoon doll from their super monsters series, more pics from this line in the future. These 8" Mego-esque characters are fully licensed Universal Monsters product. After playing with Charlie's for these photos, I totally want one, anybody selling?

Always looking for Rack Toy Submissions, drop us an email if you have a photo to share.

Mego Knock Offs: The Azrak Hamway Creature is one of the better known Mego knockoffs of the 70's but there are two fun pages that go into even more detail on this subject. Firstly, the Megomuseum has a page called Mego-Esque which chronicles some of the more prolific knock offs such as Martian Chronicles, Lincoln and AHI monsters etc. For a more detailed experience, no site is better than Lou's wonderful Megolike, which gives you everything from monsters to bible characters.

As a bonus, cruise on over to Topless Robot to read a piece I wrote entitle the Top 5 Best and Worst Comics Blantantly Designed to Sell Toys. I pulled all the stops here, possibly the most fart and groin jokes I've written all week. For more Fashion Mockery and 70's toy love visit us at Plaid Stallions.com

AHI Creature looks like he's been hanging in the Coy pond here at work. Lots of little yellow algae bits!

Love the rack toys, and the infinite cheesiness of AHI. I spent a lot of my parent's hard-earned money on their cheap goodies!

Yeah I've almost strayed into that territory myself, especially with the Mr. Spock and Apes parachutists.

Wow Heath! That Robin is hard to come by! The rest should be easy compared to this one.

I'm back and forth on the whole issue or Collecting or Not.

I lost a Penguin on ebay not so long ago and lost a private deal on a Captain America.

So far, I have the one. One does Not a Collection make.

Yeah but it's the toughest one and it's so darn bright and shiny.

Wow, that is awesome. And using the classic Infantino/Anderson pose on the bright colored background just makes it POP. As a Robin nut, I'm just jealous.

I still have my beat-up childhood Spidey parachutist, and a Captain America I scored at a flea market for a buck. As a kid I only had Batman, Spidey, Cap and Superman. Superman REALLY bothered me too. He had red hands...and a parachute!!! What the...!?!

I love these things, but I rarely come across them. I do have a few Spidey Web Shooters (and the Hulk and Cap variation).

Heath, that is one sweet card!

Brian, I just read your article on Toy tie-ins. It saddened me to know Ditko toiled on that Chuck Norris series, although I will admit to having a few of those figures. They were well-designed and had the Super Powers power-action mechanisms going for them.

Kooshkins??? Who thought that would sell comics? It makes Madballs seem like Watchmen.
