That is great Dwayne. And this is my all time favorite kit from Polar Lights. Did you air brush some of that shading on his left temple and cheek or is that a paint wash? The transition is so artfully accomplished it's hard to tell what the application is. Superb work my friend.Comment

To answer your question...it's a long multi-step process.
1. Head was misted with Testors spray can Flat Gull Grey and Camouflage Grey. This acts as a primer and gives the skin a slightly speckled texture.
2. A mixture of Folk Art acrylics Ash, Cayman Blue and White were applied as a wash to tint the entire surface.
3. Shading was done with ground charcoal and dark rust weathering powder to burn areas, scars, along the hairline, etc..
4. The same color mixture as the wash is applied as a drybrush over the shaded areas.
5. The scars were painted with a mixture of bright red with just a touch of black added.
6. Electrodes and clamps were first painted flat black, then metallic gunmetal.
7. Gloss was applied to scars, lips and eyes.
8. Hair was painted with gloss black.
Total time to paint the head...about three hours.Comment
