Damn.. you got Tracy's snub-nose, 3 versions of, arguably, the best Mego figures ever, Knievel doing his thing, and Action Jackson workin' a Tri-Tip. This may be the greatest ad ever.
You are transparent; I see many things... I see plans within plans.
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
Wanted: Legends of the West (Empire & Excel) and other western historically-based figures. Send me an offer.
Also interested in figures based on literary characters.
What year is this from? Those look to be some of the earliest versions of DC's big 3.
It's from the Walden's 1973 Christmas Catalog.
Fun little tidbit about Aldens: Along with Montgomery Ward, they were the only so-called "catalog house" to offer three of the four 1st Wave Heroes (side note: Aquaman was NEVER offered, in any Christmas catalog, ever!) for that inaugural Christmas. JC Penney, SEARS, Simpson's, Eaton's, Speigel — none of the other catalogs offered these "Big Three" right out of the gate, in 1973. Of these other big retailers, only SEARS included ANY WGSH in 1973… tucking tiny, black-and-white photos of Superman and Batman in the "discount" section at the back of the catalog, almost like an afterthought.
1973 was a darn good year! Great to see nice sharp images of these ads. I like the way the photographer nearly pulls Superman out of his boots to get the forced perspective shot he was looking for.

He probably took the boots off and then couldn't get them back on because they are skinny boot versions of both Supes and Bats
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn't it a pity".
to think that there may be an old lady somewhere who picked these up for her grand kids on sale and never gave it to them and still has these in her attic lol
