    Matchbox Fighting Furies--completed!

Some here know of my unabashed admiration for Matchbox's Fighting Furies line. Thanks to the kind referral of a member here, Big Tibo, I've nabbed my last pirate outfit and completed my collection. Mille merci, Thibault!

    I have:

    *Hook & Peg-Leg, MIB
*Hook, Peg-Leg, and Ghost of Cap'n Kidd (Best Glow-in-the -Dark toy ever!) in mailers
*both standard and lovely Sears play-ships in excellent loose condition
*6 standard and 2 Euro-exclusive outfit/accessory sets, displayed on figures. Two of the outfits are on FF Euro Western figures for variety.

I don't collect the Europe-exclusive Wild West later variation of Fighting Furies, but I would still like to catch a "coffin"-boxed Kidd someday. These are fun, beautifully-designed toys; I highly recommend them.

BTW, the Sears Sea Fury play-ship is perfect for Mego Super-Pirates, too.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

Awesome! I'd also like to see some pics.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

^Yes, I had Kid Cortez and Black McCoy, in decent boxes for a good price. I sold the boxes and some accessories to another Furies collector here and retained the figures and some clothing.

Cortez is wearing the Spanish Main and Spanish Officer sets, and McCoy is wearing the Redcoat set. I added Cortez' green vest to the One-eyed Sailor outfit, and McCoy's vest to a pirate kitbash on an extra Peg-Leg. The Western figures have deco, skin tone, and hand variations that I think are nice for setting up as Spanish and British adversaries to the pirates.

I saved the Cortez sombrero and trousers for a Zapata custom I want to do as an addition to the Mego AmWest line.

I should note that the original mass-market Furies playset is really a play-case, it's cool with nice accessories. But the Sears Sea Fury is a large playset which opens to reveal a detailed ship's interior, complete with mast, riggings, hammock--even an anchor and navigating wheel. It's very "Mego" in design and construction.

Even if you don't like Furies, it's just perfect for Mego pirates--especially since Mego figures are slightly smaller than Furies and so make the play-ship even more impressive.

One of my favorite display playsets. I love the Furies pirate ship.

Do you have a thread in Toy Room Central? I'd like to check it out.

                          Here's my ex Kid Cortez:

I have a custom Mego set of Emiliano Zapata and Pancho Villa...they are stored away in a box...I might dig them up...and take a couple of pics. I mean...they are also in on file in my external HD...but have a new Mac...and still playing with it before I download my old stuff.

                          Preview of the double card...

^ Hector, that is great! I'll admit that both men don't fit into the Mego Amwest timeline well, but Crockett is off, too. I chose Zapata because I liked the Brando film and because I could picture, as a child, liking that name on a toy's box.

Alas, no Toyroom Central--no toyroom. Nearly every bit of my collection is stored.
