Despite his ubiquity as a '70s catalog model, I don't think I've ever spotted good old Brick in a vintage TV commercial. That is, until I was skimming through a General Hospital episode from December, '78 on Youtube and stumbled upon this:
Although he's a man of few words, it's obvious that the profound emotion Brick could convey with just the subtlest facial expressions and hand gestures mark him out as a monumental talent. The fact that he wasn't immediately offered leading roles in the likes of "Kramer vs. Kramer" and "Ordinary People" is nothing short of a travesty. Also, dig that sweet David Soul-style '70s brown leather trench-coat. And remember ladies, just like the cloying odor of Wind Song, he "can't get you out of his mind"...
By the way, the freaky thing here is that the real-life Mantooth (Randolph, of course) actually had a brief run on General Hospital in the early '90's!
<cue Jack Palance: "Believe it... or NOT!!!">
