    Battlestar Galactica Inflatable Viper

I recently discovered this in a catalog for toymaker GLJ, who specialized in things like bop bags and inflatable Barbie Furniture.

Turns out they had the Battlestar Galactica license and planned a number of things, including this inflatable Colonial Viper that would have fit the 12" Mattel figures.

While some GLJ BSG merchandise made it to shelves, I'm pretty sure this never saw retail, which is a big shame although I think making one for the 3 3/4" figures might have been the safer bet.....

That's a surprisingly cool and cost-effective way to make a large ship. Kinda like the old Radio Shack "robots" that had remote control feet, but inflatable bodies. Or that Hulk you've posted on PS.

I guess the only inflatable toy vehicles I can think of are the rocket from Mattel's animated Flash Gordon, and the TMNT blimp.

You just KNOW kids took that and crash landed it 200 times until the seams broke. That was a great idea.

Would've been a great pool toy. Would've also lasted about 12 minutes in its inflated state at my place as a kid!

That is one of the coolest toys I've seen! I wish they had made it into production, I would have to have one. Now, who knows about making custom inflatables here at the museum?

Kenner stayed away from vehicles for their 12" figure line because of price. This seems like this would have been a way for them to get around that.

Very cool and I would have loved a kid sized version of that!

This was such a great surprise, I had never even heard of such an item almost being made. I so wish it was, because I'd have one hanging from my toy room's ceiling right now with my Colonial Warrior sitting inside!

That is a great idea and wonderful for storage.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

Imagine what that toy could look like with todays printing technology. It could have photo-realistic graphics printed on it and look even more like the actual ship. It's already impressive just based on the size alone!
