Matchbox Adventure 2000 K-2001 Raider Command in Lego bricks

    Hello,

As you know I'm a Lego fan but I also enjoy my old 70's toys. The Adventure 2000 line by Matchbox was one my favourite when I was a kid even if I never had those toys, I just stare at the catalog pages imagining all the fun I could have but those toys were not for sale in the little city where I used to live... a long time ago. So when things changed I bought the K-2001 via the famous auctions website but that was int he early 2000's. Since I have always wondered what it would look like build in Lego bricks and made many try but get nothing good.

I build a Crusader like vehicle that you can see here:

a modified version of an existing Lego firetruck model in the 2000's way, you can see it here:

and even an orange futuristic transporter:
Ok, this one never existed in the Adventure 2000 Matchbox toy line but it's futuristic and flashy I think it could fit in my own collection of retro future vehicles. No special feature, the building was just about the shape and colors. www.baronsat.net

But I was unsatisfied (something you people here can imagine I'm sure) so recently I finally I build the Lego version of the Raider Command I wanted. And here it is.
Of course it is minifigs scaled, so I can play...er I mean display it correctly. The two modules can be assembled or separated and the missile cannon really works... I mean it shoot plastic missile not real destruction weapon ;D

Everything seemed ok ...BUT... there wa one thing that bugs me : Lego doesn't produce parts in the color I need! So I build it in Tan and with little bit of a photo editor and "voilą". Note I also include non edited pics so you can see the real thing.
And it just took me 15 years to have it in my hands ... or 30 if you include the kid's era... all this time... anyway here are the pics. I hope you'll enjoy them.

Very, very impressive! A great tribute to those Matchbox vehicles from days gone by! Nice work!
"It's sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues. There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life."

I'm a big fan of that Matchbox line and have considered building scale models some of them (at a larger scale than the toys), so to see somebody express the same creative urge is incredible! This would make a great LEGO line by itself!

Thanks, I'm a fan, that may help
I wish some brand specialised in retro would produce such a line at action figure scale, that would be a killer.

You are not alone... at least we are two
I saw some people on the web starting the building of the K-2001 in cardboard, was it you? If not you should, that's very satisfying to create your own toy.
Back in the day Lego had, what we call today, the Classic space line and such model would have fit in it with no problem.
