Hey, does anyone remember when the big Christmas premium at some hardware and auto parts stores was a toy semi-truck? I remember in the 70s, you'd see these ads for sales at these places and at the end of the ad you see something like "Bring the kids and you can get a ___truck with purchase"...or something like that? I'm pretty sure I had one. I keep thinking it was a Hess truck, but I could be wrong.

Hess trucks were really big in my area at one time. People would line up to buy them at $10 a pop and I would see guys buying cases of them. They used to have collectible value but not anymore. I see them at auctions and yard sales. Folks still sometimes want old prices but usually the going rate is maybr 5 bucks.
They still issue them yearly but no one lines up anymore. They're fun to collect I guess or play with. Sunoco gas station has one too every Christmas.

^ I think Exxon was doing that too, but I was thinking of the tire stores, or auto parts stores, or hardware stores that ran those commercials. (I wish I could find an ad)."Do you believe, you believe in magic?

Maybe it was Western Auto? Here's an auction site with a toy truck from there.
