    RIP George Barris

The designer of the TV Batmobile, Munster Coach and Dragula, and lots of other iconic Hollywood vehicles. I posted this here, because there are a LOT of toys based on Barris' work, particularly the Batmobile. I sometimes took issue with how much credit Barris took for developing the Batmobile as not a concept (one that was well established in the comics for nearly 25 years by the time he designed his version), but there is no denying he created that iconic look that most of us still think of as THE Batmobile. RIP.

For fans of Batman, this has been an incredible year of celebration and profound loss. What an artist he was. And always so enthusiastic and proud (as he should be). He will be missed.

I've always liked his Batmobile, it's true it's iconic. But it was his Black Beauty that I've come to admire the most. RIP sir.

As my introduction to Batman came through reruns, Barris defined the Batmobile for me. Even later seeing that the vehicle had existed for some time before, I alwys thought those versions were not "the" Batmobile. It is still my all-time fantasy car.
