A Brief History of McDonaldland and the Toys (and Lawsuit) It Spawned

If you visited an older, well-established McDonald’s franchise during the latter part of the 1990s—specifically one of the corporation’s two-story restaurants boasting a “McDonald’s PlayLand”—you may have noticed some odd shapes and unfamiliar characters featured on the playground’s equipment.

I still have a lot of affection for the Remco McDonaldland figures. I had them all as a child. Which is a little odd when I think of it considering I've never really liked clowns and the only Krofft show I really got into was Land of the Lost. Never would have liked the characters if the McDonaldland Ronald had still been like the nightmare inducing Willard Scott Ronald.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I have always loved the toys. Never knew the details of the lawsuit. Very interesting read.

I was fortunate to collect this series (both loose and carded) and nab the playset (boxed and complete) back in the late 90's for very little money. I'm proud to have it in my collection.

interesting read. I had never heard about the lawsuit. I had the whole collection as kid too. sold most of it off years ago. might still have the extremely beat up Ronald kicking around somewhere and I think I have a few parts to McDonald land around somewhere
