    Shindana Toy Center

I love seeing stuff like this 1977 article and especially a whole store display of Shindana merchandise like the JJ Walker plush, Wanda and of course, the amazing Slade Super Agent dolls.

Redd Foxx doll?? C'mon baby, that is too cool! Kind of strange Big Jack got dropped from the PACK line (if he was ever in consideration?). I do prefer Slade as an agent against the bad guys. I wonder if Mattel ever had plans for Jack in the PACK and if so, what they were?

I had a Rodney Allen Rippy doll from Shindana. There was a period in time I carried him w/ me everywhere! I do have one in near mint condition, (except he no longer talks), in my toyroom now.

I have a talking Redd Foxx looking over me in my office.

I'd really like to know personally, Mattel had done a big push with Gold Medal Jeff and Jim in 1975. I've heard that stuff didn't sell well, so that may have been a problem.

That Slade the Super Agent, gives me a serious Shaft (Richard Roundtree) vibe, I wonder if the idea
          was based on that?

I didn't know they were based in Watts. Makes sense. I so wanted Slade as kid. I think I saw him in bodega once in West Philly. They didn't have many toys, so I'm not sure how he ended up there. Did Shindana also make the Flip Wilson/Geraldine doll? I remember seeing one of those at a thrift store in the late 80's. I regret not picking it up.
