    Godzilla is no Pussycat

This ad is taken from a Hong Kong trade magazine, showcasing the Imperial Toys Godzilla merchandising blitz. I love stuff like this but I'm kinda mad I never saw that Mecha Godzilla at retail, that would have been soooooo mine.

I love that Godzilla is choking the kid from behind on that inflatable box! You'd never see that now.

I've never run across that one. Only Mecha-G released in the 80's stateside was a bulmark wired remote control, about the size of Popy/Godzilla Gang figures. Maybe Cali got a few somewhere, but I was roaming Cali from '85-'89

Wonderful ad! It really sucks that the sparking Mecha G never made it to retail, I would have bought that in a heartbeat! I was curious if it was based on an existing Japanese toy and looked through my guide to Godzilla collectibles but came up blank. The one in the ad looks like a Bandai vinyl Mecha G with a mocked up box, I guess that's as far as they went with it.

The six foot inflatable Godzilla looks so cool. Imagine making your action figures fight that!
