Remco Monsters Glow in the Dark Haunted House

One of the reasons I love October is I get to talk about Monster toys, in my top five are the Remco monsters and their awesome, wonderful haunted house playset. More on these guys next week.

A friend of mine had this when we were kids. I coveted that thing. Cindy bought me one this spring at a toy show in Columbus, OH, and it's proudly on prominent display for this Halloween, along with a full set of monsters!

Somebody at Remco really loved the monsters. The mini-monsters all have amazingly detailed sculpts and paint apps that surpassed even Kenner's Star Wars figures. Dracula's face in particular has incredible paint detail.

Love these so much. The Canadian versions continue to haunt me as I may never acquire a full set.

I need one of these. I just completed a beautiful set of loose monsters. They need a place to call their own.

Great little playset and the Reaction monsters like it as well.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I have one of these but I do not recall where it glows. It may be they did 2 versions like they did monsters- glow and non glow.

The difference between the glow and non glow version is a tiny sheet of glow in the dark decals and small starburst on the front that says "New glow in the dark features." Mine is the glow version. You can see one of the glow decals on the control panel by the Invisible Man.

There are two cases, with and without GITD starburst on the front.

I've sold both of mine. One was unused, unpunched. I've decided to go more towards custom displays for holidays. Like Hawthorne Village for action figures.

I have their Sgt. Rock reuse of the "mold" as some kind of war torn house. Made a fun hideout for Cobra forces back in the day.
