    Mattel Donny and Marie Catalog

Donny and Marie were TV superstars in 1977 thanks to their Sid and Marty Krofft (yes, the Land of the Lost guys) produced variety show which I watched an awful lot as a kid.

Girls loved Donny and looked up to Marie so it only made sense when Mattel Toys snapped up the merchandising rights to this squeaky clean pop duo.

The results are a little bit Barbie, a little bit Rock and Roll....

Wow! I remember watching this show faithfully every Friday night as a kid! I was always a fan of Donny's. I must say that Mattel had Marie's likeness down pat. Especially that styling head! I had friends who had these dolls but I never had any.

My sister had these as a kid. She also had Jeanie and Dorothy Hamill. I recently found her a MIB Dorothy Hamill for her birthday. I don't think she has the same nostalgia bug like me, but I know it brought back memories for her. I remember she did have 1 Mego - 12" Wonder Woman!

My sister had these. Even then, I remember thinking Donny and Marie sure looked a lot like the Wonder Twins in their purple getup.

I think some of Donnie's clothes eventually made it into my toy box. I think I used them on my Mego's for disguises. Scale didn't matter to me then!

They do look pretty cool don't they? I remember watching this on Friday nights too (ABC!)

Question....is Donny really "a little bit rock 'n roll"? I always thought he was more "pop" myself.

The Osmonds were real rockers behind the scenes, except for Marie of course.
