^ I've never heard of SuperScope! I wish I had b/c I was really into the Tarzan cartoon, (still am). It would be interesting to find one of these.

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic

Yeah, they were quite cool. Most of the Superscope stuff was based on classic children's literature, but these Tarzan ones were adaptations of the classic Burne Hogarth strips from the '30s/'40s and had that pulpy "weird fantasy"/early swords & sorcery type of feel. I remember that the back of the packages they came in had a series of cardboard cut-outs that you could form into a playset with little figures and everything. Someone actually scanned a couple of the books (although there's no audio from the tapes, sadly) that you can check out here:

Superscope Story Teller books were very similar to Little Golden Books in appearance, but came in a package with a cassette tape. I don't ha...

I have shown another of the Superscope Story Teller books adaptations of Sunday Tarzan comics by Burne Hogarth. Click on the link to read it...

Some of the other Superscope recordings are on Youtube, and amazingly someone even unearthed a '70s commercial for the line:

BTW Earth 2 Chris, I've enjoyed all of the Power Records podcasts so far! (I think I'm caught up.) The review and analysis after the play thru is spot on.
Thanks! It's a lot of fun to listen to these, and then yak about them with Rob. Keep your ears peeled...Halloween is coming up after all!

I had never heard of the Super Scope Storyteller. Pretty cool! Nice way to sneak some Tarzan in, via the classic literature angle!

Speaking of the book & record I'd mentioned earlier in this thread, here's a really cool video of "G.I. Joe and the Secret Of The Mummy's Tomb" that features some of the artwork being animated and everything. Even has a scratchy record for full flashback effect, haha. I think this was posted on this forum years back, but just in case anyone is interested give it a look! Really well done!

I love those storybook and records.

My favorites are the non-Power Records Masters of the Universe stories. Is there any place that carries the Kid Stuff book/records?

The only Peter Pan I have thats not on that Power Records site is a Peter Pan from '71 called Jack and the Beanstalk. I would send it to the blog if I had a way to convert the record.

I know, me too!! If someone could take a bunch of those old Peter Pan and Power Records stories and make semi-animated videos in this style I would watch 'em all day, seriously.
