    A little something about Palitoy

Didn't know where to post this, but here's a little article, and even a short vid, about Palitoy. Still love my Palitoy stuff, lol!

Action Man, Care Bears and Star Wars figures were the toys that every British child in the 1970s and 80s could not wait to get their hands on. So why did the company that made them fall into decline?

      That was great.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

As a dilettante GI Joe collector, I've been so impressed by how innovative Palitoy was in transforming GI Joe into Action--not just flocking and gripping hands as described, but also the Eagle-Eye feature, the muscle-body, and more detailed uniforms. The 40th Anniversary Action man output was amazing and a fitting homage.

They really upgraded offerings like Bulletman and Atomic Man, too: rocket-boots and an "atomic" pacemaker? Great play value. Just imagine if they had applied this to Mego WGSH. We got a great Space: 1999 set and more fist-fighters, but what if they had tweaked production details or added characters.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

I'm still kind of in awe of the Palitoy Death Star playset. Very clever design and lots of play value packed into that card board set.

Thanks for sharing. That was some really cool information. Though I do prefer "Kung Fu Grip" to "Gripping Hand."
            WANTED - Solid-Boxed WGSH's, C.8 or better.
