MPC Spidey and Hulk model kits reissued

Looks like Diamond is bringing these 70s snap-together kits back. I remember having the Spider-Man, and he never would stick to the wall. I seem to recall he came with poster tack for that purpose.





They've added a Wolverine to the mix, and are reissuing the Cap and Spidey Aurora kits again.

These are actually reissues of reissues. MPC and Polar Lights put these out several years ago and they didn't sell so well. I already have them all, plus the 1979 originals. These may even be re-solicited unsold stock.

And yes, the original Spidey does come with poster tack, as well as glow in the dark stickers for his eyes. It's also worth mentioning that on the MPC reissues all four colors of plastic are different from the originals.

I must have missed the MPC reissues. My bad. I knew the Auroras had been put out recently. Honestly, it's hard to keep up with how many different times all the Aurora kits have been reissued...and by whom. I guess we can lump these two snap kits in too.

I will say this...I prefer the originals of the MPC kits.

Look at that original Hulk box...all the beautifully inked line art is lost on the repro because of the heavy handed modern digital coloring.

The design and layout of the original box is also superior...the larger Hulk logo really pops, and by removing the helicopters from the image there's no context to the now almost unnoticeable gunfire coming from the right.

The originals aren't hard to find and for the price that the re-issues will probably sell for, you could buy originals. I know I didn't pay much more than the polar light re-issues for my originals.

I wish MPC (or anyone) would reissue the Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean kits from the 70s.

If memory serves, weren't the reissues scaled up from the originals? I remember getting Spider-man and noting how much bigger he was than the one I had as a kid.

^The Aurora reissues are scaled up...the MPC reissues are the same size as the originals.

I had both Spidey and Hulk back in the day. I actually got Spidey to stick to the wall with that poster tack.
