    Matchbox Mobile Action Command

Mobile Action Command or MAC is one of the most underrated action figure lines of the 1970's.
The concept is centered on the nameless men of MAC, an international rescue operation similiar to the Thunderbirds, each man has his own quasi futuristic vehicle. The combination of a 2" figure and attractively priced vehicle lured me many times and the lack of a back story intrigued me and millions of other children world wide. The thing I hear most about MAC these days from collectors is "I had that but never knew what they were called!"

If you'd like to know even more about MAC, check out Mobile Action Command Headquarters which has more information and catalogs from other years.

I agree this line was highly underrated. I loved these as a kid, especially the mountain. I liked the earlier versions of the figures better though. The non-muscle ones were not as detailed but they fit in vehicles better. The one nice thing about this line is you can still pick most items up fairly inexpensively.

I have never really seen these before, only heard the name. I now think Kenner's M.A.S.K. owes a bit to this line. The size of the figures seems about the same, and the mountain headquarters is similar looking.

Is it me, or do their heads resemble Big Jim?

Cool! I love any excuse to trot out my MAC Mountain pics! Probably my most played with playset as a child, this thing was a base for almost everyone at some stage.

I'd also recommend any MAC fans to check out a friends Action Jack site, these were a MAC knock-off that took the ball and really ran with it http://www.geocities.com/lukemeadley/contents2.html

Neat site, I think I have one of those "action Jacks"

A weird follow up to this, in the early ninties I had a wholesale catalog that featured a toy called "Son of Action Jack" I could never make out the picture but I imagine it was these.

Mobile Action Command was one of my childhood faves... I've been looking for some for a while. Not super-expensive but actually pretty tough to find mint/complete.

I agree with you, the non-muscle ones were better. I had so many of these guys back in the day. The HQ was one of my favorite toys when I was a kid.

I had almost forgotten these guys, we had a blast with them and the playset. The vehicles were really neat.
