By "Junk Pickup Day", do you mean they went to the landfill with the used needles and tissues, or did they go to a Goodwill distribution center to get toys to preschools and puzzles to senior living homes? What I mean is, is there a chance you could track them down?
^They have one day a year where you can set out anything...scrap metal, furniture, old paint cans, computers, whatever and they'll haul it away. People also drive around and just help themselves to stuff if they see something they want.
I cringe just thinking about this. Sorry that happened. You seem to have perspective on it though, and not all of us could do that.
This is actually an interesting idea for a thread. What collectible stuff have you ever had tossed out or destroyed? When I was in Jr. High, I had a really sweet collection of Wacky Packages in a bag I had taken over to a friends house. I brought it home, left the bag on the table, and my mom tossed it thinking it was garbage. At least I never felt the need to collect Wacky Packages again.
^Well, I was very upset at first, and I had to refund a member here who I had sold the Super Powers to. When I went to retrieve them for shipping, that's when I discovered they were gone.
I felt so bad I'm sending him some free consolation figures.
BUT, at the end of the day, it's all just stuff. Someday we'll all be dead, and all our stuff will be sold off or thrown out. That's just life.
