    Lovable Smoking Traveler's Pet

I was pleased to track one of these down over the weekend as my dad sold them back in the 70s. I was always fascinated by the concept, especially the notion that the Hanna Barbera characters were chain smokers.

As an adult, I'm going to venture a guess that this isn't an officially licensed product.

Well, Huck there would be the perfect spokesperson for those blue e-cigarettes now.

What does it have to do with Traveling????? You really wonder sometimes about Marketing in the 60's and 70's.

I would imagine you would put it on your dashboard like those hula girls they have. As to H-B characters smoking, let's not forget Fred and Barney use to hawk cigarettes.

How does it work? Is it some sort of incense-type thing?

Pretty much, the novelty cigarette does all the work.

Just out of college my wife and I found a whole display of these smoking monkey figures from the 60s. We gave them to friends and lit a bunch up at parties. It was a riot. Wish I kept one.

God, I picture scary crazy drifters in beat up pickup trucks, cruising the highways and looking for hitchhikers to slaughter. And ol' Huck puffing away happily on the dash, while Conway Twitty plays on the 8 -Track...

This is like something from a David Lynch film. Hah, this is the original Blues Traveler.

I never knew they did a character other than Quick Draw McGraw.

from the looks of those cigarettes, they should have done Cheech and Chong.
