Jet Discs for the Tracer Gun

I kind of got giddy finding this ammo pack for the Star Trek tracer gun.

I didn't even notice that there is no mention of Trek on the package.

These guns showed up at Canadian retail until the mid 80s, I wish i had kept one....

Oh man, my brother and I had so much fun playing with those things when we were kids! My parents biggest complaint was that the had to go out and buy us replacement ammo! To this very day, some thirty years later when I'm doing work in my Mom's yard, I'll occasionally stumble upon a stray disc or two that got lost in pile of dirt or in the tangles of roots on a bush. It's usually a bit faded, but you can still tell what color it once was. They are like holding little plastic memories in your hand.
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

The gun was way cool but the rifle was much cooler!

        ^That's a great story!

I never had these...were they outlawed after the infamous Battlestar Galactica incident?

My kids played with larger, foam disc guns like this. We still find those from time to time!

This was my most often purchased toy as a kid, I'd run out of discs then I would just load up some dimes and start blasting away. Good times!!

The color discs look like those pegs you snapped on the old school record players when you played
the small records. The small records that played singles the hole in the middle was to big for the turn table peg
but you would take a color disc and snap it inside the hole then slide it onto the the turn table peg.

I got one of these guns for Christmas back around 1979-80, don't think mine was Trek related. Great toy though!

I had the Tracer gun as a kid but I ended up losing all the ammo for it within the first few weeks of getting it. I never knew that you could buy more jet discs.

Those things flew like nothing else. At 8 years old, it was as good as having a real gun. Awesome, awesome toy.
