I've been looking for the R2, Jawa and Tusken Raider for some time now. The R2 pops up from time to time but is never nice looking, the Raider comes up infrequently and always commands a big price, and the Jawa is pretty much a myth."Many Shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day I can tell you."Comment

That figure you offered to sell me still haunts my dreams, damn you!
Yeah, you probably need to buy a boxed one in order to have one with a nice decal. I bought my R2 in the pic above as a temporary placeholder until I could upgrade it with a boxed one. Here we are over six years later and I still have him and haven't upgraded. I've really been slacking with this line!Comment

I recall seeing these come out back in '79 when we went on holiday to San Luis Potosi. My brother and I brought our US Kenner figures and all the kids wanted them since Lily Ledy had not yet made 4" figs yet but they had the 12" dolls. There were three pallets of these dolls and the sad thing was they seemed to be not selling well. I recall going back to the department store a day before we left to airport only to see three pallets still there but some did sell. Out of all of them, the only ones I did like were the crazy jawa and tusken raider only for the fact they were unusual and there were so many of them. My uncle wanted to buy them for me and I turned him down. Boy, I so regret that now.Last edited by SeattleEd; Feb 4, '15, 9:34 PM.Comment

Aakk, I remember seeing that ad in Toy Shop back in the day. Those prices are crazy! Boxed Vader, $80??? You could probably wave around $3000 these days and have a very hard time even finding someone willing to sell one to you!

I can still remember seeing these for the first time in those Toy Shop ads back then, and my jaw hitting the floor when I saw that Tusken Raider. I really regret not picking that one up.Comment

Given that we had BBQ for lunch just prior (and then you swung back around to pick up those catalogues in front of Comic Alley Toys), I'd say it's pretty low on the sadness scale.
They were so cheap, I bought a handful of Tomart's just to stroll down memory lane. Really do love the articles on unproduced prototypes and the Toy News International was always such a kick in those pre-internet days.Comment
