Spectacular. Loved these for a very long time. Slightly out of my price range, though.

        GREAT CAESARS GHOST!!!!

I did not hallucinate this... we DID get this in CANADA?! I got confused and assumed I had seen it in Hong Kong at some point during my childhood in a Japanese Dept store (although it's very likely I did as well).

I know I definitely saw these boxed figures in Hong Kong as a kid...

Dear Lord... I think my objective for this year's trip to japan is vintage Star Wars.

You may have to bring a hefty wallet...

Great, now I have competition, I want them too. Only the Luke and Leia got released in Japan, so luckily it's a small (but expensive) line to collect. I saw a Leia in a trashed Takara box at one of the stores in Broadway mall last year, (the one that sells US toys), I can't remember the exact price but it wasn't cheap.

I vaguely remember seeing these in stores back in the late 70's. They were only released in Japan (bagged) and Canada (carded). It's possible you saw some in HK Ed, imported from Japan, but they wouldn't have been on cards like this.

Oh yeah, those were white whales in the mid nineties. I found a loose one at a flea market once, got a good buck for it IIRC.

Those Kenner face sculpts are toy nirvana. They get the likeness, without producing an ugly looking toy. Still, very toylike, yet capturing and softening the actor's likenesses. They always looked... friendly, in a good way.

Yes, I love the head sculpts on these, for the exact reasons you mention.

I think so, I will definitely be on the lookout for more Takara SW stuff this trip.
