Evel Knievel for daredevil thrills and action!

It's no surprise that Ideal claimed at one point that it sold more than $125 million of Knievel merchandise, I think even the amish kids wanted one of these.

True fact: I have never in my life, played with one of these....

Brian....really? I have 2 Stunt Cycles, The Chopper, the Funny Car, 2 Dragsters, a trail bike, a Daredevil set, Robbie Knievel and chrome plated cycle, Derry Daring, her cycle and Wheelie Car and several gyro winders. I also have Playing Mantis and Poof Slinky versions. Evel and Derry rock!

Brian you NEED one of these!

I'm shocked...SHOCKED that you've never played with an Evel toy. One of the best toys ever made, bar none. My kids still pull out my Playing Mantis reissue from time to time and set up ramps and jump stools, pets, etc.

Brian that is a stunning revelation my friend. The Evel Knievel stunt cycle (and spin off vehicles/sets) were some of the most iconic toys of the 70's. I got mine on Christmas morning and by that evening, that bike no longer looked new from all the jumps I was doing with my brother in the back yard. A one-of-a-kind toy. So sorry you missed out on that. Of course the flip side is you were able to embrace allot of lesser known toys that have become just as beloved today. So I guess it all shakes out in the end. (:

The Evel Knievel Jet Cycle was one of my favorites as a kid.I always wanted to jump him of the roof at my grandparents house but my mom shot that idea down.

Yeah, those were some of the most fun toys, ever...as were the Ideal Team America that followed in the early 80s.

Second might me all of the parachute toys.

One of the few toys that actually DID everything it did in the commercials. This is easily one of the best toy's of the 70's, maybe top 10 ever.

Brian, you have lived an empty and pointless life.

                  These were so much fun.

I'm looking to score a Popy GoRenger Aka that is similar to the Evel playset.

So are the Popy versions 8" scale?

I got the cycle set for my birthday and loved playing with that thing, and my sister had Derry Daring. I always wanted the dragster too but never got one.

I didn't know that Evel got a Japanese release, very cool to see those catalog pages!

I thought these were fun, but I was a little disappointed in bendy Knieval compared to a Mego.

Still, much more playable than the CHiPs cycle.

So do I! I remember when I worked in after school, and we went to see the movie "Bedtime Stories", and when Adam Sandler was telling a story to his niece and nephew, and there was an Evel Knievel in the kids room, all my kids start whispering, "Hey Sharry, Evel Knievel, just like yours!" They knew b/c I used to bring them to school!

My 5 yr old daughter loves watching Evel jump. She went to pre-school once and told the teacher and other kids about him. I doubt that the 20 something teachers have any idea who Evel Knievel was...but my daughter does. Oh yeah. I still enjoy seeing him flip in mid air too. The percentage of times he lands safely are very low. Just like it was in real life.
