There is no doubt in my mind that I would have spent all of my pocket money on one of these as a kid. It's just what one? I'm not ashamed to admit even Ziggy was a contender for me back then.
I remember having a Star Wars one very similar. From what I recall the markers dried out quickly and barely made it half way through the posters.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
I have The Hardy Boys, Star Trek and Star Trek TNG.
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
Awesome! I believe I had the Spidey and Hulk ones... they definitely ring a bell.
I also recall having other similar Marvel colouring kits, including Spidey, Hulk and Cap... but they were sold in cylindrical tubes, I think. Would love to find those again.

I had a Star Wars one as well that had a 3D Darth Vader mask that you punched out, put together and then mounted in the middle. The problem was it kept falling off because the glue was never strong enough the hold the weight of it.
I also had one for Superman: The Movie. I remember that I colored the Phantom Zone villains' outfits green because they already had a lot of black shading and I didn't want to color in the white with more black. And since they were from Krypton, green made sense despite not being screen accurate. LOL!
And yes, those markers sucked big time!!! If I recall, the caps didn't even snap on very tight. I always used the good markers that I already had at home.

I can't remember if I had that Superman: The Movie set, or it was just the giant coloring book I knew that I had. Maybe I had both?
I'm REALLY after the Fantasy Island ones, I saw them on Toy Hunter. NEED!
Not much to color on Mr. Roarke and Tattoo though, huh?

I had that one too, and remember having to put extra supports in it to get it to stay right.
Then I converted it to an actual mask that I could wear.
