    Back to the cornfield

My pal Steve sent me this over the weekend, yet another sighting of the Hee-Haw overalls in the Sears Catalog. Never has there been a more authentic bit of merchandise albeit a slightly bewildering one.

For added bonus, the kid modelling them looks like the eerie combination of Roy Clarke and Buck Owens.

I liked this show as a kid, but had mixed feelings about it as a teen, mainly b/c when I was 15, it marked the ending of the weekend. After it was over, all of us kids (I was living w/ my dad), had to make sure all the homework was done, clothes were ready for school, chores (like dishes) were done. But I still have a fondness for it.

I think I've said this before, but I believe I had those, and wore them. Now, I was way too young to protest, so keep that in mind.

Hee-Haw was a staple at our house. It usually aired early evenings on Saturday, like around 6 or 7 PM. When I was little, I loved it, as I got older, I loathed it, and rejected the country and bluegrass music my Dad liked. My tiny little version of rebellion, I guess. Nowadays, I really love classic country like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, etc. Go figure.

My God, he DOES look like Roy and Buck's lovechild!!!

Kid looks like he belongs more in Children of the Corn than on Hee Haw.

Never saw those pants on anyone, but Buck Owens wore a pair similar on the show . I really like that era o country music, it has an identity of its own. I think today's country is too pop sounding. And the artists are interchangeable. Back then everyone had a distinct sound- no mistaking Buck Owens from Conway Twitty or Johnny Cash.

I will admit to having those overalls. Hee Haw was required viewing at my grandparents house where we spent many weekends. Luckily Dukes of Hazard came on right after that so if you could make it through Hee Haw, Daisy was your reward.

Junior should have had some made in his size to wear on the show.
