    Top Selling Toys for 1974

I love little things like this article about the hottest selling toys of 1974. As you can see Evel Knievel is getting killed by play-doh and Barbie! #8 is still my favourite, oh Crazy Foam, how I miss thee....

No child should have ever been without Playdoh atleast once in their childhood. This is why I believe they were at the top of the list. When you really think about it who do you know that did not have Playdoh as a child? I still think that Evil Kneivel should have ruled the list. I believe age was an important factor in sales though. I would like to have seen the sales by age category. Younger kids would be more apt to play with Playdoh as a first toy rather than an Evil Kneivel. The name Evil also probably played a pretty good role in the decision making process.

Ah, the days of red, white, yellow, and turquoise as the only options for playdoh colors.
        It's all good!

I can see the Nerf football being on that list. I think I got my first one the Christmas of 74. Crazy foam never gets the love it should but when it shows up on Ebay it always goes high. Still looking for a Hulk can of it.

There have been few constants in my life since 1974, but always having a Nerf football around is one of them..

If you played with them enough, the "skin" would eventually flake and peel off, leaving you with just a foam ball.. which was still usable..

I remember I became very disenchanted at age 5 w/ Play-Doh. I got a 3 color multi pack, and I tried to make some of the things I saw on the box. What I didn't know is that once you put one color on top of another, it doesn't come apart again. I ended up w/ a multi-colored MESS! That was my first taste of false adverstising.

As far as my thoughts are concerned I could not agree more.
